Just like our Kinderpuppy 1 class, this is a 6-week beginning obedience and socialization course, designed especially for puppies between 5 and 10 months. Proper socialization is the most vital component of your puppy’s healthy development into a friendly, well-adjusted adult dog. Adequate socialization to other puppies during their developmental period teaches puppies how to communicate properly with other dogs, develop bite inhibition, and helps prevent future dog-aggression. In addition to socialization, this class also covers basic obedience training (sit, down, stay, come, leave it, and settle on mat) as well as problem prevention (biting, barking, chewing) using positive reinforcement. We will also cover puppy basics such as house-training, crating, and proper socialization. Each class may include several supervised play sessions. No puppies at first meeting. Puppies must have current DHPP vaccinations.

Meet your Trainer:
Katrin Greim, MA, CTC, CPDT is a certified Professional Trainer who provides positive reinforcement training to Portland dogs and their owners. She graduated with honors from the San Francisco SPCA’s Academy for Dog Trainers and the Marin Humane Society’s Canine Behavior Academy. She is an AKC certified good citizen evaluator, is certified in Pet First Aid and CPR, and is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. Katrin is available for private behavior and training consultations, day training, and board and train programs. Plucky Puppy also offers dog walking, pet sitting, and boarding.

Basic Manners is a 6-week positive reinforcement dog training class for beginning obedience and problem-behavior prevention designed to build a better relationship between you and your dog. Teach your dog to sit, down, stand, stay, come, walk on leash nicely, and leave it on hand signal and voice command. We will also cover common behavior problems such as jumping up. Learn how dogs learn differently from humans, and how to apply that knowledge to dog training. Dogs must be current on rabies and DHPP vaccinations. No dogs at first class.
